FAQ

How do I post a comment or an article?

You must be aged 18 or over to use TMHO. You will need to create a FREE account first, and once your application is confirmed, you can post away!

Who can post an article or make a comment on TMHO?

Absolutely anyone who wants to can post on TMHO and be considered as a contributing writer to the website. It's the internet stupid!

Who are your featured writers?

Our featured writers are individuals who have committed to write for us on a regular basis. They may have a regular blog, series of articles, and have permanent features on our home page or our various sections.

How do I become a featured writer?

If you would like to be considered as a featured writer (sorry but this is an unpaid freelance position) please contact us with your writing ideas for TMHO, any samples of your work, and tell us a little about you. You can reach us at contact@tearingmyhairout.com

Can I go from being a contributing writer to being a featured writer or are you only looking for experienced journalists and writers?

Yes, if you are a committed contributing writer we will consider you as a featured writer. No, we are not only looking for experienced writers as our featured writers. Your personality, commitment, creativity and flair are important traits which we would consider.

Do you moderate articles, blogs and comments?

No. The general ethos of TMHO is a website by the people for the people. We are not the internet police and believe that consenting adults (you must be aged 18 to use our website), have a right to write and comment on any topics that interest them. However, offensive, illegal or inappropriate comments brought to our attention will be deleted e.g. racist, abusive, homophobic, solicitation or advertising for other blogs or internet websites, thread spamming etc.

Someone has posted an offensive article or comment. What can I do?

You can flag the comment as abusive by pressing the flag as abusive link below the comment. This will alert us to review and if deemed appropriate by us, delete the comments that don't comply with our policies.

Why are some of the articles and comments written by anonymous people?

Here at TMHO, your privacy is of utmost importance. THMO is our chance to write about subjects, which may include our jobs, or people close to us and many people choose to protect their identities, and those of others that they might write unflattering things about. Many people chose to write under their pseudonyms and that's perfectly understandable and their choice. Revealing the identity of someone who has chosen to remain anonymous may result in a lifetime ban. Hello, I'll come out of the closet when I want to and don't need any help from anyone thank you very much.

Is there a limit to the number of articles or comments that I can post daily?

At the moment, there are no limitations to the number of posts or comments. However, it is anticipated that as the website grows in membership, the number of articles per member may be limited to perhaps one or two daily. You can comment on as many articles as you wish, as long as you are not thread spamming.

I appear to have been banned from your website.

Who's been a naughty one then? Whilst we are very thick skinned and encourage dialogue, even on the most controversial subjects, you may be banned for offensive, illegal or inappropriate comments or articles.

If you have a pattern of making inappropriate comments and as a consequence, you are banned from TMHO, don't even think signing up with a different email address will "unban" you as we ban IP addresses, not merely your username.

Your website sucks and I have some ideas for improving the site.

OK, calm down a bit mate but yes please, we'll very much appreciate your comments so please email us on contact@tearingmyhairout.com

Quiz for one - how many times did we use a sentence that incorporates tearing+hair+out in the About us section?

Get a life. OMG! Do you think we have time to count such things? Such silliness. OK, and it's totally debatable, but does the counting include references to the quiz itself, email addresses? Come on, we'll be here all day counting.
